Bruce's goals lift Markham to 3-0 victory over Trenton

Tyson Bruce had two goals to lead the Markham Royals to a 3-0 victory over the Trenton Golden Hawks.

Bruce scored at 5:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Markham and again while 2:06 into the second to make the score 2-0 Markham.

Markham was boosted by Marcus Semiao, who turned in a shutout with 29 saves. Semiao certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.04 entering the contest.

The Royals put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Trenton to score on any of its three power plays. Markham's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Golden Hawks. The Royals allow 2.6 goals per game.

Jeff Joynt also scored for Markham. More assists for Markham came via Brendan Valko, Matthew Dunlop, Sean Perichak, Brandon Washer, Lucas Condotta, and Marco Azzano, who contributed one each.

Trenton did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Golden Hawks average 3.6 goals per game.

Markham incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Daniel Urbani made 27 saves for Trenton on 30 shots. The Golden Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
