St. Michaels erases deficit to stun Orangeville, 4-3

The St. Michaels Buzzers climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Orangeville Flyers, 4-3.

St. Michaels never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Buzzers fell behind 3-1 after a power play goal by Orangeville's Kosta Likourezos at 4:55 in the second period. St. Michaels knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Lucas Breault at 17:37 in the third period. The Buzzers netted the game winner at 18:33 in the third period on a goal by Breault.

Thomas Beretta was all over the ice for St. Michaels, as he tallied two goals in the win. Beretta scored on the power play at 14:48 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 9:49 into the third to make the score 3-2 Orangeville.

The Buzzers forced the Flyers' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 41 shots and forcing 37 saves. Ruan Badenhorst made 19 stops and Nicholas Latinovich made 18. Penalties took their toll on St. Michaels, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

St. Michaels also got a goal from Cameron Wright as well. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Anthony Paveglio, Noah Jordan, and Cameron Searles, who contributed one each and Mark Paolini and Sean Kohler, who each chipped in two.

Orangeville's offense rang up 36 shots on the Buzzers' net. The Flyers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Orangeville was helped by Callum Cusinato, who racked up one goal. Cusinato scored on the power play 13:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Orangeville. The Flyers had gained a power play chance when Austin Clapham was whistled for cross checking. Josh DeFarias assisted on the tally. Orangeville additionally got points from Lucas Smilsky, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Orangeville came via Derek Topatigh, who had one and Jack Jeffers, who had two.

Mark Manolescu rejected 33 shots on goal for St. Michaels. The Buzzers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
