Georgetown hangs on, beats Toronto Patriots 2-0

Andrew Court scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Georgetown Raiders held off the challenges of the Toronto Patriots Patriots in a tough 2-0 win.

Georgetown took over the lead for good with a goal by Court at 13:54 in the first period. The Raiders had gotten the advantage when Toronto Patriots' Mario Ferraro was sent off for boarding. Josh Dickinson provided the assist.

Andrew Masters spearheaded the defensive effort for Georgetown, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 32 saves for the shutout. Masters certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.96 entering the contest.

The Raiders were led by Court, who registered one goal.

Georgetown put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Patriots to score on any of their four power plays. The Raiders' defensive play was more effective than usual against Toronto Patriots. Georgetown averages 2.4 goals allowed per game. The Raiders' offense rang up 38 shots on the Patriots' net.

Georgetown also got a goal from Brendan Jacome as well. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Jake Payette, Jordan Crocker, and Jack Jacome, who each chipped in one.

Toronto Patriots was held below its usual level of production. The Patriots put an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. Toronto Patriots' offense rang up 32 shots on Georgetown's net.

The Raiders incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Patriots' Sean OReilly stopped 36 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Toronto Patriots incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
