Burlington rips Milton, 12-1

The Burlington Cougars were firing on all cylinders against the Milton Icehawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Cougars emerged with a 12-1 win.

Chris Cobham had two goals and three assists to lead Burlington. Cobham scored the first of his two goals at 12:40 into the second period to make the score 7-0 Burlington. Zac Herrmann provided the assist. Cobham's next tally made the score 10-0 Burlington with 15:49 left in the third period. David Thomson picked up the assist.

The Cougars pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 22 penalty minutes.

Burlington forced Icehawks' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 43 shots and forcing 31 saves. Jakob DeVincentis made 22 stops and Anthony Coletta made nine. The Cougars put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Milton to score on any of its six power plays. Burlington outdid its season average for goals scored. The Cougars average 4.4 goals per game.

Burlington also got points from Nicholas Holt, who also registered one goal and one assist, Jordan Peacock, who also racked up two goals and two assists, Kevin Dimagno, who also registered one goal and one assist, Thomson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Ben Morris, who also had one goal and one assist, and Nathan Gomes, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Philip Lagunov also scored for Burlington. More assists for Burlington came via James McLaughlin, who had three, Willy Paul, Anthony Baxter, and Griffin James, who contributed one each, and Zack Elson and Matt Holmes, who each chipped in two.

Milton also got a goal from Michael Vitro as well. In addition, Milton received assists from Sean Robertson, who had one.

Austin Washkurak rejected 24 shots on goal for Burlington. The Cougars registered one goal on two power play opportunities. The Icehawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
