The Markham Royals' Lucas Condotta scored 1:56 into overtime to beat the Stouffville Spirit, 5-4 (OT). Marco Azzano had a great game for Markham, netting two goals. Azzano's tallies came on the power play at 12:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Markham and on the power play 10:35 into the third to make the score 4-4. The Royals' penalty kill excelled, as Markham gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays. The Royals stifled Stouffville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Markham's offense rang up 46 shots on the Spirit's net. The Royals could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game. Markham additionally got points from Condotta, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Markham included Brendan Valko and Rylee St. Onge, who scored one goal each. In addition, Markham received assists from Joel Knight, who had four and Matthew Dunlop, Brandon Washer, and Laine McKay, who each chipped in one. Markham was unable to stop Stouffville from sending pucks towards the net, and the Spirit eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Stouffville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. The Spirit were helped by Stefan Palatsidis, who tallied one goal. Palatsidis scored 14:19 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Stouffville. Calvin Martin assisted on the tally. Stouffville also got points from Alex Williamson, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Stouffville also had goals scored by Josh Argier and Christopher Brill-Morgan, who each put in one. More assists for Stouffville came via Zachary Roberts, Chad Burrows, Max Novick, and Cameron Lintner, who contributed one each. The Royals' Marcus Semiao stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Markham registered two goals on 10 power play opportunities. The Royals ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Joseph Teofilo was ejected from the game. Aaron Taylor made 41 saves for Stouffville on 46 shots.
