Toronto Jr. Canadiens wins tough contest against Oakville, 4-3Scotiabank Pond One Fri, Jan 22, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens and the Oakville Blades was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Toronto Jr. Canadiens emerged with a 4-3 win. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Michael Siddall's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The Junior Canadiens were paced by Siddall, who registered one goal and one assist. Siddall scored on the power play 5:15 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Toronto Jr. Canadiens had gained a power play chance when Christian Rajic was whistled for goalie interference. Connor Beck assisted on the tally. In a losing effort, Oakville was led by Tyler Rollo, who had two goals. Rollo scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:03 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. The Blades had gotten the advantage when the Junior Canadiens' Nico Gonzalez was sent off for goalie interference. Ryan Foss picked up the assist. Rollo's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 17:26 left in the second period. Oakville earned a power play opportunity when Brendan Bonello was put in the box for delay of game. Foss provided the assist. Toronto Jr. Canadiens forced the Blades goalie Brendan McGlynn to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. Others who scored for Toronto Jr. Canadiens included Andrew Pucci, Anthony Trujillo, and David Zeppieri, who each put in one. In addition, Toronto Jr. Canadiens received assists from Nicholas Ursitti, who had two and Nicholas Jarzabek and Troy Taylor, who contributed one each. Oakville forced Junior Canadiens' goaltenders to work in net, racking up 32 shots and forcing 29 saves. Bonello made 27 stops and Daniel Lopapa made two. More assists for Oakville came via Josh Kosack, who had two and Drew Worrad and Ryan Garvey, who each chipped in one. The Junior Canadiens incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Blades' McGlynn stopped 41 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Oakville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Blades ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Rajic was ejected from the game.
