The Orangeville Flyers' Lucas Smilsky scored 1:41 into overtime to beat the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, 4-3 (OT). Orangeville overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Flyers trailed 3-1 after a goal by Buffalo's Ryan Wheeler at 16:14 in the second period. Orangeville tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Daniel DeRose at 3:09 in the third period. The Jr. Sabres' power play was ineffective against the Flyers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Orangeville forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 16.0 minutes per game the Flyers had been spending in the box. Orangeville's offense rang up 34 shots on Buffalo's net. The defensemen of the Flyers were also effective in the Jr. Sabres' zone, and came away with two goals. Orangeville also had goals scored by Zack Vukosa and Ryan Barbosa, who scored one goal each. More assists for Orangeville came via Jack Jeffers, who had three and Kosta Likourezos and Josh DeFarias, who contributed one each. Buffalo forced Orangeville goalie Nicholas Latinovich to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. The Jr. Sabres' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Buffalo found itself short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing two power plays. Buffalo additionally got points from Tim Nicksic, who also had one goal and one assist. Buffalo also got a goal from Aaron Reinig as well. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Christopher Berger, Brenden Dunning, Dylan Seitz, and Joshua Biasillo, who each chipped in one. Nicholas Latinovich made 39 saves for the Flyers on 42 shots. Orangeville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Derek Topatigh was ejected from the game. Tucker Weppner rejected 30 shots on goal for the Jr. Sabres.
