Trenton wins tough contest against Cobourg, 3-2Duncan Memorial Sun, Jan 17, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Trenton Golden Hawks escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Cobourg Cougars. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Liam Morgan secured the win for Trenton with a goal in the third period. Morgan had two goals to lead the Golden Hawks to victory. Trenton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Trenton also got a goal from Danny Hanlon as well. More assists for Trenton came via Josh Allan, who had two and Brandon Marinelli, Mitch Emerson, Jordan DaSilva, and Lucas Brown, who contributed one each. Cobourg stifled the Golden Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cougars were helped by Matt Carroll, who finished with one goal. Carroll scored 6:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. Justin Bennett picked up the assist. Ryan OGrady also scored for Cobourg. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Josh Hopkin and Russell Nowry, who each chipped in one. Jackson McIntosh made nine saves before being replaced by Daniel Urbani, who took the win and made nine saves. Trenton incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tyler Lewis recorded 22 saves for Cobourg. The Cougars incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
