Huge game by Rozanov boosts Newmarket over Pickering, 7-3

Mark Rozanov had four goals and one assist to lead the Newmarket Hurricanes to a 7-3 victory over the Pickering Panthers.

Rozanov's first goal came 16:31 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:12 into the second, at 8:03 into the third, and at 14:51 into the third.

Newmarket's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Pickering power plays. The Hurricanes forced Pickering goalie Troy Paquette to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Newmarket surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Hurricanes average 3.0 goals per contest.

Newmarket additionally got points from Todd Winder, who also racked up one goal and three assists. Others who scored for Newmarket included Nick Kalpousos and Christian Cella, who each put in one. More assists for Newmarket came via Alex Ierullo, who had two and Max Routledge, Owen Ramsay, Marco Bozzo, and Steve Mariani, who contributed one each.

The Panthers' offense rang up 34 shots on Newmarket's net.

Pickering was led by Andrew Hughes, who had two goals. Hughes scored the first of his two goals at 9:20 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pickering. Owen Scuralli picked up the assist. Hughes' next tally made the score 3-3 with 13:47 left in the second period. Tiger McDonald assisted on the tally. Kyle Gentles also scored for Pickering. In addition, Pickering received assists from Kevin Ounjian, who had one.

The Hurricanes' Lucas Patton stopped 31 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Newmarket incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Troy Paquette made 29 saves for the Panthers on 36 shots. Pickering incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
