A four-goal first period deficit cost the Burlington Cougars, which could not recover and fell to the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, 6-1. Buffalo was paced by Brenden Dunning, who finished with one goal and one assist. Dunning scored 8:55 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Buffalo. Zach Evancho picked up the assist. Buffalo additionally got points from Tim Nicksic, who also registered one goal and two assists, Christopher Berger, who also had one goal and one assist, and David Baskerville, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Buffalo also had goals scored by Nicholas Bondra and Bryce Ferrell, who scored one goal each. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Matthew Buchbinder and Griffin Lunn, who contributed one each. Burlington stifled the Jr. Sabres' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cougars did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Burlington averages 4.4 goals per game. The Cougars found themselves short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. Tucker Weppner rejected 22 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Andrew Lee made 20 saves for Burlington on 26 shots. The Cougars registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
