Burlington penalty kill dominates in 8-5 defeat of LindsayLindsay Recreation Centre Fri, Jan 08, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lindsay Muskies failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Burlington Cougars shook off a number of penalties to win, 8-5. Burlington was paced by Nathan Gomes, who finished with one goal. Gomes scored 6:07 into the second period to make the score 6-4 Burlington. Zac Herrmann assisted on the tally. In the losing effort, Lindsay was led by Cameron Lamport, who tallied two goals. Lamport scored the first of his two goals at 1:20 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Burlington. Dayton Kent picked up the assist. Lamport's next tally made the score 5-4 Burlington with 15:22 left in the second period. Kyle Diamond provided the assist. The Cougars kept the Muskies' goalie busy throughout the game, and Graham Dynes made 36 saves on 44 shots. Burlington found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Cougars have scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Burlington found itself short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. Burlington also got points from Nicholas Holt, who also had one goal and one assist, Jordan Peacock, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Kevin Dimagno, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Stefano Alonzi, who also had one goal and one assist. Burlington also had goals scored by Willy Paul, Mike Faliero, and David Thomson, who each put in one. More assists for Burlington came via Philip Lagunov, Ben Morris, Chris Cobham, and Matt Holmes, who contributed one each and Anthony Baxter and James McLaughlin, who each chipped in two. Lindsay bested its season scoring average. The Muskies average 2.2 goals per game. Lindsay could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. Lindsay additionally got points from Diamond, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Lindsay included James Allen and Cameron Robinson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Josh Wainman and Matt McNamara, who contributed one each. Austin Washkurak recorded 24 saves for the Cougars. Burlington registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
