Whitby holds on for 4-3 win against Lindsay

The Lindsay Muskies tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Whitby Fury held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Ryan Taylor put Whitby up 3-1 in the third period, but Lindsay pulled to within one on Stuart Fierheller's tally 6:12 into the third period.

The Fury got the win on the strength of a great game by Nik Coric, who had one goal and three assists. Coric scored 6:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Whitby.

Whitby forced the Muskies goalie Sean Green to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Whitby also had goals scored by Jacob Durham and Zack Fisher, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Whitby were Jonathan OHara and Rylee McKinnon, who contributed one each.

Lindsay got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

The Muskies were helped by Jeff Christensen, who racked up one goal. Christensen scored 11:53 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Hunter Hotrum picked up the assist. Kristopher Diclemente also scored for Lindsay. In addition, Lindsay received assists from Zach Treen, Cameron Lamport, and Cedric Ralph, who each chipped in one.

Jordon White recorded 25 saves for the Fury. Whitby totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For the Fury, Austin Ulett was ejected from the game. Lindsay's Green stopped 37 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Muskies incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
