Stouffville blows out Pickering, 10-1

The Stouffville Spirit were firing on all cylinders against the Pickering Panthers, and when the final buzzer sounded Spirit emerged with a 10-1 win.

Ryan DaSilva was all over the ice for Stouffville, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. DaSilva scored 1:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville. Christopher Brill-Morgan picked up the assist.

Pickering's nine penalties came back to haunt it, as the Panthers let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:24 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Spirit forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and two majors for 42 minutes in penalty time. Stouffville had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Spirit forced Pickering's goalies to work between the pipes, ripping 43 shots and forcing 33 saves. Troy Paquette made 17 stops and Mathew Woroniuk made 16. Stouffville found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Spirit average 3.3 goals per game.

Stouffville additionally got points from Sam Hu, who also registered four goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Stouffville also got a goal from Jack Varga as well. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Nathan Hudgin, who had three, Chad Burrows and Jackson Savery, who contributed one each, and Max Novick, Calvin Martin, Cameron Lintner, and Connor Evans, who each chipped in two.

The Panthers were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game Pickering had been spending in the box.

Tiger McDonald also scored for Pickering. Other players who recorded assists for Pickering were Mackenzie Heber, who had one.

Conor McCollum rejected 20 shots on goal for Stouffville. Team's Zachary Roberts and Stefan Palatsidis were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Panthers registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For Pickering, Kyle Gentles and Kyler Challis were ejected from the contest.
