The Cobourg Cougars and the North York Rangers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Cobourg made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Patrick MacDonald's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. The Cougars were led by MacDonald, who tallied one goal. MacDonald scored 17:42 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Cobourg. Matt Goeree assisted on the tally. Cobourg stifled North York's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Cougars' offense rang up 37 shots on the Rangers' net. Cobourg also got points from Matt Carroll, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cobourg also got a goal from Brenden Locke as well. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Liam Grande, Brennan Roy, and Theo Lewis, who each chipped in one. North York's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Cobourg power plays. The Rangers were helped by Louis Kereakou, who grabbed one goal. Kereakou scored 12:05 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Tyler Currie picked up the assist. Joshua Dame also scored for North York. Other players who recorded assists for North York were Nick Zanette, who had one. Tyler Lewis rejected 22 shots on goal for Cobourg. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jeremie Lintner made 34 saves for North York on 37 shots. The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
