Georgetown boosted by Day's play in net, beats Toronto Patriots 4-1

Billy Day stood on his head and made 31 saves to lead the Georgetown Raiders to a 4-1 victory over the Toronto Patriots Patriots.

Georgetown's penalty kill excelled, as the Raiders gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Georgetown was paced by Anthony Mota, who registered one goal and one assist. Mota scored on the power play 9:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Georgetown. The Raiders had gained a power play chance when Jason DiPerna was whistled for tripping. Bennett Altman picked up the assist.

Georgetown forced Toronto Patriots' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 41 shots and forcing 37 saves. Jacob Standen made 32 stops and Sean OReilly made five. The Raiders stifled the Patriots' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Georgetown got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Georgetown also had goals scored by Matt Mercer, Michael Boushy, and Zack Dybowski, who each put in one. In addition, Georgetown received assists from Arran MacDonald, Bailey Molella, Brendan Jacome, and Matthew Cairns, who each chipped in one.

Toronto Patriots was held below its usual level of production. The Patriots average 3.1 goals per game. Toronto Patriots' offense rang up 32 shots on the Raiders' net.

The Patriots were led by Steven Mounouchos, who scored the team's only goal. Mounouchos scored 16:12 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Georgetown. Louis DiMatteo assisted on the tally.

Georgetown incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Toronto Patriots incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
