Burlington uses fast start to beat Milton, 13-1Appleby Arena Mon, Dec 21, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Milton Icehawks fell behind early, and the Burlington Cougars kept piling on the points on the way to a 13-1 victory. Burlington was led by goalie Andrew Lee, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. Lee certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.72 entering the contest. Chris Cobham quarterbacked the Cougars' offense to perfection and bagged four assists in Burlington's win over Milton. The Cougars forced the Icehawks' goalies to work between the pipes, firing 68 shots and forcing 55 saves. Jakob DeVincentis made seven stops and Anthony Coletta made 48. Burlington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Milton to score on any of its three power plays. The Cougars bested their season scoring average. Burlington averages 4.3 goals per game. The Cougars got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. Burlington additionally got points from Nicholas Holt, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Zac Herrmann, who also registered one goal and one assist, Jordan Peacock, who also had one goal and one assist, Mike Faliero, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Philip Lagunov, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Ben Morris, who also registered two goals and one assist, James McLaughlin, who also had one goal and one assist, and Matt Holmes, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Burlington also got a goal from Kevin Dimagno as well. More assists for Burlington came via Tyler Riter, who had three, Zack Elson and Stefano Alonzi, who each chipped in one, and David Thomson and Nathan Gomes, who contributed two each. Burlington was unable to stop the Icehawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Milton eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Icehawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Milton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyler Longo was ejected from the game.
