Wellington downs Pickering in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Wellington Dukes' Justin Bean scored 1:13 into overtime to beat the Pickering Panthers, 4-3 (OT).

Colin Doyle had a great game for Wellington, netting two goals. Doyle's tallies came short handed at 1:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington and 17:37 into the first to make the score 2-0 Wellington.

The Dukes' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Pickering power plays. Wellington forced Pickering goalie Troy Paquette to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots.

Tyler Burnie also scored for Wellington. In addition, Wellington received assists from Nicolas Mucci, Shaw Boomhower, Jacob Panetta, and Austin Labelle, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers kept the Dukes' goalie busy throughout the game, and Olivier Lafreniere made 37 saves on 40 shots.

Pickering was helped by Chris Sekelyk, who registered one goal and one assist. Sekelyk scored 3:29 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wellington. Kennedy Duguid provided the assist. Pickering additionally got points from Duguid, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Pickering also got a goal from Doug Carter as well. More assists for Pickering came via Dallas Carter and Tiger McDonald, who contributed one each.

Wellington incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Troy Paquette made 37 saves for the Panthers on 41 shots. Pickering incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Panthers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyler Challis was ejected from the game.
