Whitby falls to Aurora in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

JD Falconer gave the Aurora Tigers a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Whitby Fury when he scored 3:45 into the extra period.

Aurora pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 20 penalty minutes.

The Tigers were paced by Falconer, who had one goal.

Aurora put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Whitby to score on any of its six power plays. The Tigers' offense rang up 42 shots on the Fury's net.

Daniel Mantenuto also scored for Aurora. More assists for Aurora came via Kyle Locke, Nolan Dunn, James Thomson, and Ryan Shaw, who each chipped in one.

Whitby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in 11 chances. The Fury could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Whitby was led by Justin Brand, who scored the team's only goal. Brand scored 3:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Steven Elliott picked up the assist.

Alex Fotinos recorded 23 saves for Aurora. The Fury's Daniel Mannella stopped 40 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Whitby ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Heeps was ejected from the game.
