Oakville rolls over Newmarket, 6-2Sixteen Mile Sports Complex Fri, Dec 11, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Oakville Blades had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Newmarket Hurricanes. Oakville got the win on the strength of a great game by Evan Brown, who had one goal and two assists. Brown scored 2:20 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Oakville. Peyton Reeves picked up the assist. The Blades forced Newmarket's goaltenders to work all game long, firing 32 shots and forcing 26 saves. Dalton Ewing made 15 stops and Connor Ryckman made 11. Oakville also got points from Brendan Doherty, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Oakville also had goals scored by Michael Mannara, Ryan Foss, Drew Worrad, and Eric Holland, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Oakville were Bryce Misley, who had two and Patrick Kudla, Daniel Berno, Brayden Sampson, Paul Butler, and Ryan Garvey, who contributed one each. The Hurricanes' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Oakville power plays. Newmarket was helped by Mark Rozanov, who had one goal. Rozanov scored on the power play 11:16 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Oakville. The Hurricanes had gotten the advantage when Oakville's Butler was sent off for tripping. Alex Ierullo assisted on the tally. Newmarket additionally got points from Ierullo, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Newmarket came via Nick Kalpousos and Christian Cella, who each chipped in one. Brendan McGlynn recorded 23 saves for the Blades. Oakville incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Newmarket incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
