Burlington downs Toronto Jr. Canadiens in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Burlington Cougars' Nathan Gomes scored 3:10 into overtime to beat the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens, 3-2 (OT).

Although Burlington was up by as many as two goals in the second period, Toronto Jr. Canadiens kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Junior Canadiens got to within 2-1 on a power play goal by Andrew Pucci at 10:35 in the third period.

The Cougars were led by Gomes, who registered one goal.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens was unable to stop Burlington from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cougars eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Burlington also got points from David Thomson, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Burlington also got a goal from Jack Jeffers as well. Other players who recorded assists for Burlington were Willy Paul, Zac Herrmann, Mike Faliero, and Tyler Riter, who contributed one each.

The Junior Canadiens forced Burlington goalie Andrew Lee to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens was helped by Nico Gonzalez, who racked up one goal. Gonzalez scored on the power play 13:14 into the third period to make the score 2-2. The Junior Canadiens earned a power play opportunity when Jeffers was put in the box for head contact. Pucci provided the assist. Toronto Jr. Canadiens additionally got points from Pucci, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Toronto Jr. Canadiens received assists from Matthew Ferrari, who had one and Anthony Trujillo, who had two.

Lee rejected 36 shots on goal for the Cougars. Burlington incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brendan Bonello made 37 saves for Toronto Jr. Canadiens on 40 shots. The Junior Canadiens incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
