North York blows out Orangeville, 7-3

The North York Rangers had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over the Orangeville Flyers.

North York pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 42 penalty minutes.

The Rangers were led by Ryan Hunt, who registered one goal and one assist. Hunt scored on the power play 8:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North York. North York had taken the advantage when Orangeville's Ethan Wiseman got sent off for holding. Ted Hunt provided the assist.

The Rangers forced Flyers' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 34 shots and forcing 27 saves. Kasimir Krol made nine stops and Nicholas Latinovich made 18. North York outdid its season average for goals scored. The Rangers average 3.3 goals per game. North York was effective with a man advantage, and put in four goals while on the power play.

North York also got points from Tyler Currie, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Grayden Gottschalk, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North York included Keegan Blasby, who had two and Michael Morgan and Nick Zanette, who scored one goal each. More assists for North York came via Fedor Rudakov, who had two, Jeremy Szabo, who had three, and Louis Kereakou, Ryan Takamatsu, and Christian Mitri, who contributed one each.

The Flyers' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and two majors for 70 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 16.0 minutes per game Orangeville had been spending in the box. The Flyers forced the Rangers' goaltenders to work between the pipes, firing 34 shots and forcing 31 saves. Jeremie Lintner made 22 stops and Gianluca Baggetta made nine.

Team's Hunt and Hunt were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Orangeville registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. For the Flyers, Daniel DeRose and Kosta Likourezos were ejected from the contest.
