Mariani's hat trick boosts Newmarket over Milton, 13-3

Steve Mariani lifted the Newmarket Hurricanes to a 13-3 victory with a hat trick against the Milton Icehawks.

Mariani's first goal came 11:11 into the second period. He then added goals at 2:05 into the third and at 15:12 into the third.

Milton was unable to stop Newmarket from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. Newmarket surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Hurricanes average 2.8 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with four goals.

Newmarket also got points from Nick Kalpousos, who also had one goal and one assist, Adam Smith, who also racked up two goals and two assists, Christian Dedonato, who also registered one goal and one assist, Marco Bozzo, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Christian Cella, who also had one goal and one assist, Ryan Young, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Mark Rozanov, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Todd Winder, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Newmarket were Jonathan Colley, who had three, Marty Lawlor, who had four, Declan Graham and Dalton Ewing, who each chipped in one, and Max Routledge, Alex Ierullo, and Roberto Orlando, who contributed two each.

The Icehawks were helped by Graeme MacLean, who finished with one goal. MacLean scored 5:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Milton. Brandon Sabatini picked up the assist. Milton additionally got points from Devin Pierce, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Milton also got a goal from Jeff Lindsay as well. In addition, Milton received assists from William Santangeli and Michael Alberga, who each chipped in one.

Ewing rejected 18 shots on goal for Newmarket. The Hurricanes incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Anthony Coletta recorded 34 saves for Milton. The Icehawks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
