Burlington outlasts Kingston, 4-2

The game between the Burlington Cougars and the Kingston Voyageurs was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Burlington emerged with a 4-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and David Thomson's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

The Cougars were led by Jordan Peacock, who finished with one goal. Peacock scored on the power play 18:29 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Burlington. Burlington had gained a power play chance when Cole Beckstead was whistled for high sticking. Zac Herrmann provided the assist.

The Cougars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Kingston power plays. Burlington's offense rang up 40 shots on Kingston's net. The Cougars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Burlington additionally got points from Herrmann, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Kevin Dimagno, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Burlington came via Nathan Gomes, who had two and Willy Paul, Chris Cobham, and Jacob Ovens, who contributed one each.

The Voyageurs found themselves short handed often, totaling 58 penalty minutes and allowing four power plays.

Kingston was helped by Connor Bebb, who grabbed one goal. Bebb scored 13:57 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Matthew Lourenco picked up the assist. Kingston also got a goal from Cole Langfield as well. In addition, Kingston received assists from Jakob Brahaney, Reid Russell, and Jack Zielinski, who each chipped in one.

Andrew Lee rejected 24 shots on goal for Burlington. The Voyageurs' David Richer stopped 36 shots out of the 40 that he faced.
