Aurora rides Fotinos to victory over Stouffville, 3-1

The Aurora Tigers relied on the sparkling performance of Alex Fotinos in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Stouffville Spirit.

Aurora was sparked by Spencer Herbst, who registered one goal. Herbst scored on the power play 12:39 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Aurora. A cross checking penalty on Kyle Linney had put the Tigers on the power play. Liam Neuman picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:29 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Aurora excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Tigers got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Aurora also had goals scored by Kyle Locke and Darren Iwai, who scored one goal each. More assists for Aurora came via Nicholas Turenko, Alex Formenton, Liam Ham, Matthew Bernard, and James Thomson, who contributed one each.

Stouffville was led by Stefan Palatsidis, who scored the team's only goal. Palatsidis scored 5:27 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Aurora. Jackson Savery provided the assist.

Alex Fotinos made 26 saves for Aurora on 27 shots. The Tigers totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For Aurora, Thomson was ejected from the game. Aaron Taylor recorded 27 saves for the Spirit. Stouffville ended with 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. The Spirit ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Palatsidis was ejected from the game.
