Cobham's goals lift Burlington to 3-1 victory over Buffalo

Appleby Arena    Fri, Nov 20, 2015

The Burlington Cougars relied on the scoring touch of Chris Cobham, who netted two goals, to beat the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, 3-1.

Cobham's tallies came on the power play at 3:04 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and 6:45 into the third to make the score 2-1 Burlington.

Buffalo was stymied by Burlington's netminder Austin Washkurak, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. The solid play of Washkurak will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.37.

The Cougars excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Burlington kept the Jr. Sabres' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tucker Weppner made 28 saves on 31 shots.

Nathan Gomes also scored for Burlington. Other players who recorded assists for Burlington were Willy Paul, who had two and Zac Herrmann, Jordan Peacock, and Greg Allen, who contributed one each.

Buffalo's offense operated below its season average. The Jr. Sabres average 3.9 goals per game.

Buffalo was led by David Baskerville, who scored the team's only goal. Baskerville scored 19:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Joshua Biasillo provided the assist.
