Huge game by Lourenco boosts Kingston over Pickering, 6-2Pickering Recreation Complex Fri, Nov 13, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Behind a great game by Matthew Lourenco, who had one goal and two assists, the Kingston Voyageurs defeated the Pickering Panthers, 6-2. Lourenco scored on the power play 13:16 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Kingston. A cross checking penalty on Kevin Ounjian had put Kingston on the power play. Ian Harris assisted on the tally. Lourenco dished an assist on Zachary Emelifeonwu's goal that made the score 4-1 Kingston at 15:37 into the second period. He added another helper on Josh Hardiman's goal that made the score 5-2 Kingston at 13:29 into the third period.The defensemen of the Voyageurs were also effective in Pickering's zone, and came away with two goals. Kingston's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Voyageurs finished with 26 penalty minutes. Kingston also got points from Hardiman, who also registered one goal and one assist, Anthony Rinaldi, who also finished with two goals and one assist, and Harris, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Kingston came via Jacob Hanlon, who had two and Hunter Drew, Colin Tonge, and Brandon Nadeau, who each chipped in one. The Panthers found themselves short handed often, totaling 28 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. Pickering was helped by Chris Sekelyk, who grabbed one goal. Sekelyk scored 16:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pickering. Davis Kuksis picked up the assist. John Hudgin also scored for Pickering. Other players who recorded assists for Pickering were Doug Carter, Kyler Challis, and Tiger McDonald, who contributed one each. Kingston's David Richer stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Graham Schropp rejected 21 shots on goal for the Panthers. Pickering registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
