Cobourg wins tough contest against Oakville, 3-2

The game between the Cobourg Cougars and the Oakville Blades was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Cobourg emerged with a 3-2 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Matt Watson at 19:51 of the third period.

Mac Lowry had a great game for the Cougars, netting two goals. Lowry scored at 11:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg and again while 1:24 into the second to make the score 2-0 Cobourg.

More assists for Cobourg came via Ryan OGrady, Sam Dunn, Rory Milne, Brenden Locke, and Brennan Roy, who each chipped in one.

Oakville stifled Cobourg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Blades were helped by Josh Kosack, who finished with one goal. Kosack scored 4:32 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cobourg. Christian Rajic picked up the assist. Oakville also got a goal from Bryce Misley as well. In addition, Oakville received assists from Patrick Kudla, Tyler Rollo, and Ryan Garvey, who contributed one each.

The Cougars' Stefano Durante stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Cobourg incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brendan McGlynn rejected 27 shots on goal for Oakville. The Blades incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
