Burlington blows out Milton, 7-1

The Burlington Cougars were firing on all cylinders against the Milton Icehawks, and when the final buzzer sounded Cougars emerged with a 7-1 win.

Burlington's Andrew Lee was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Lee will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.78.

The Cougars were paced by Ben Morris, who racked up one goal. Morris scored 19:17 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Burlington. Zac Herrmann provided the assist.

Burlington forced Milton's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 42 shots and forcing 35 saves. Anthony Coletta made 35 stops and Marcus Semiao made zero. The Cougars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Milton power plays. Burlington surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Cougars average 4.1 goals per game. The defensemen of Burlington were also effective in the Icehawks' zone, and came away with four goals.

Burlington additionally got points from Nathan Gomes, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Burlington included Nicholas Holt, who had three and Willy Paul and Devin Pierce, who each put in one. In addition, Burlington received assists from Jordan Peacock, Tyler Riter, Samuel Gagnon, Jacob Ovens, and Dante Felicetti, who contributed one each and Mike Faliero, Greg Allen, and Daniel Volpe, who each chipped in two.

Milton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Icehawks were led by Joseph Teofilo, who scored the team's only goal. Teofilo scored 6:50 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Burlington. Sean Perichak picked up the assist.

The Cougars incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Milton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Michael Alberga was ejected from the game.
