Oakville falters on penalty kill, loses to Burlington 7-3

The Oakville Blades lost to the Burlington Cougars, as their penalty kill allowed Burlington to score four goals with a man advantage.

The Cougars were led by Jordan Peacock, who racked up one goal and one assist. Peacock scored on the power play 15:07 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Burlington. A slashing penalty on Brendan Doherty had put Burlington on the power play. Nathan Gomes provided the assist.

The Cougars surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Burlington averages 4.0 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Burlington also got points from Mike Faliero, who also registered one goal and two assists, Ben Morris, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Daniel Volpe, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Burlington included Nicholas Holt, Zac Herrmann, and David Thomson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Burlington received assists from Willy Paul, who had two and Zack Elson and Tyler Riter, who contributed one each.

Oakville was led by Christian Rajic, who racked up one goal and one assist. Rajic scored on the power play 8:34 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Burlington. The Blades had taken the advantage when the Cougars' Faliero got sent off for high sticking. Tyler Rollo picked up the assist. Oakville also had goals scored by Bryce Misley and Josh Kosack, who each put in one. More assists for Oakville came via Patrick Kudla, who had one.

Austin Washkurak rejected 22 shots on goal for Burlington. The Cougars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Michael Botiz recorded 22 saves for Oakville. The Blades totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Oakville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Misley was ejected from the game.
