Georgetown outlasts Milton, 5-3Alcott Sat, Nov 07, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Georgetown Raiders gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Milton Icehawks. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Bailey Molella's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Georgetown got the win thanks to a great game by Matthew Cairns, who had one goal and two assists. Cairns scored short handed 19:31 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Georgetown. Molella assisted on the tally. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 3:28 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Raiders racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and two majors for 42 minutes in penalty time. Georgetown surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Raiders forced Milton goalie Marcus Semiao to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Georgetown was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of 10 man advantages. The Raiders' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Georgetown also got points from Molella, who also registered one goal and one assist and Brendan Jacome, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Georgetown included Jake Payette and Daniel Hardie, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Georgetown were Josh Dickinson, who had two and Jack Jacome and Anthony Mota, who each chipped in one. The Icehawks' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 12 minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. Milton had been averaging 17.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Icehawks were led by Joseph Teofilo, who had three goals. More assists for Milton came via Chris Cobham, who had one and Anthony Baxter and Sean Perichak, who each chipped in two. Georgetown took out Billy Day after he had made three saves and installed Andrew Masters in goal, where he finished with 16 saves and the win. Team's Matthew Pyz and Liam Winslow were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Semiao recorded 38 saves for Milton. The Icehawks registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. For Milton, Marten Leclerc and Cobham were ejected from the contest.
