Newmarket downs Wellington in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

The Newmarket Hurricanes' Ryan Young scored 2:43 into overtime to beat the Wellington Dukes, 2-1 (OT).

Young had two goals to lead Newmarket to victory.

In addition, Newmarket received assists from Christian Dedonato, Marco Bozzo, and Jonathan Colley, who contributed one each.

Wellington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hurricanes to score on any of their five power plays.

The Dukes were led by Jacob Panetta, who scored the team's only goal. Panetta scored on the power play 7:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wellington. Wellington had gotten the advantage when Newmarket's Christian Cella was sent off for hooking. Luc Brown picked up the assist.

Connor Ryckman made 24 saves for the Hurricanes on 25 shots. Newmarket incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Olivier Lafreniere rejected 22 shots on goal for the Dukes. Wellington incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
