Buffalo downs Cobourg, 6-1

Evan Bennett tallied two points to lead the Buffalo Jr. Sabres to a 6-1 victory over the Cobourg Cougars.

Buffalo also got points from Nicholas Bondra, who also had one goal and one assist, Brenden Dunning, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Christian Zimmerman, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Buffalo included David Baskerville and Michael Benaquist Jr., who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Zach Evancho, who had two and Andrew Pizzo, Bryce Ferrell, Dylan Seitz, and Griffin Lunn, who contributed one each.

Cobourg's offense operated below its season average. The Cougars put an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. Cobourg could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Cougars were led by Kallen McFarland, who scored the team's only goal. McFarland scored 11:16 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Rory Milne picked up the assist.

Brian Kowalski recorded 20 saves for Buffalo. The Jr. Sabres incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Cobourg's starting goalie, Stefano Durante, made 10 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Tyler Lewis, who stopped five shots. The Cougars registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
