Schropp stymies Wellington, Pickering wins 4-1Pickering Recreation Complex Sun, Nov 01, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Graham Schropp helped the Pickering Panthers defeat the Wellington Dukes, 4-1. Pickering was led by Mackenzie Heber, who finished with one goal and one assist. Heber scored on the power play 14:56 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pickering. The Panthers had gained a power play chance when Brodie Butt was whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct. Owen Scuralli provided the assist. Pickering kept Wellington's goalie busy throughout the game, and Olivier Lafreniere made 32 saves on 36 shots. Pickering additionally got points from Justin Bennett, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Pickering also had goals scored by Robert Clark and Doug Carter, who each put in one. More assists for Pickering came via Davis Kuksis, Kyler Challis, and Chris Sekelyk, who each chipped in one. The Dukes could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Wellington was led by Justin Bean, who scored the team's only goal. Bean scored 3:09 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Pickering. Jacob Panetta picked up the assist. Schropp recorded 28 saves for the Panthers. Pickering incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Dukes registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
