The Kingston Voyageurs beat the Newmarket Hurricanes, 2-0, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout. Kingston took over the lead for good with a goal by Jack Zielinski at 3:26 in the first period. Jacob Hanlon provided the assist.The Voyageurs were boosted by David Richer, who turned in a shutout with 27 saves. Richer certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.25 entering the contest. Kingston was led by Zielinski, who registered one goal and one assist. The Voyageurs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Newmarket power plays. Kingston's defensive play was more effective than usual against Newmarket. The Voyageurs gives up 2.8 goals on average per game. Kingston also got a goal from Anthony Rinaldi as well. In addition, Kingston received assists from Connor Bebb and Reid Russell, who each chipped in one. The Hurricanes did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season.
