St. Michaels blows out Mississauga, 7-1Port Credit Arena Sat, Oct 31, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mississauga Chargers had trouble finding ways to stop the St. Michaels Buzzers, which beat Chargers, 7-1. Mississauga was stymied by St. Michaels' netminder Mark Manolescu, who stopped 49 shots during the victory. Manolescu managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.89 prior to the game. The Buzzers' penalty kill excelled, as St. Michaels gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays. The Buzzers forced the Chargers' goaltenders to work between the pipes, finishing with 46 shots and forcing 39 saves. Tyler Richardson made 15 stops and Andrew Cipollone made 24. St. Michaels stifled Mississauga's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Buzzers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. St. Michaels averages 3.2 goals per game. The Buzzers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. St. Michaels was helped by Colton Trumbla, who registered one goal. Trumbla scored 10:12 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Michaels. Cameron Wright provided the assist. St. Michaels also got points from Lucas Breault, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Thomas Beretta, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for St. Michaels included A.J. Dorazio, who had two and Finn Evans and Cameron Searles, who scored one goal each. More assists for St. Michaels came via Mark Paolini, who had two and Lucas Derose, Brad Cocca, Sean Kohler, Noah Jordan, and Michael Andlauer, who contributed one each. The Chargers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. Mississauga surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. The Buzzers were unable to stop the Chargers from sending pucks towards the net, and Mississauga eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. The Chargers were led by Kevin Bray, who scored the team's only goal. Bray scored 18:42 into the first period to make the score 3-1 St. Michaels. Daniel DeSousa assisted on the tally. St. Michaels registered three goals on nine power play opportunities.
