Aurora wins tough contest against Pickering, 3-2

The game between the Aurora Tigers and the Pickering Panthers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Aurora emerged with a 3-2 win.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Kyle Locke's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Tigers' penalty kill excelled, as Aurora gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Tigers were sparked by Locke, who tallied one goal and one assist. Locke scored on the power play 18:05 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Aurora. A tripping penalty on Reade MacInnis had put Aurora on the power play. Liam Ham assisted on the tally.

Aurora also had goals scored by Alex Formenton and Darren Iwai, who scored one goal each. In addition, Aurora received assists from Evan Kearns, Nolan Dunn, James Thomson, and Liam Neuman, who each chipped in one.

Pickering could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Panthers were helped by Owen Scuralli, who had one goal. Scuralli scored 10:05 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Tiger McDonald picked up the assist. Pickering also got a goal from Davis Kuksis as well. More assists for Pickering came via John Hudgin and Chris Sekelyk, who contributed one each.

The Tigers' Joshua Boyko stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Aurora incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Mathew Woroniuk made 25 saves for Pickering on 28 shots.
