Trenton and Newmarket could not settle their match and fought to a 2-2 tie. The Golden Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Newmarket power plays. The Hurricanes were unable to stop Trenton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Golden Hawks eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Trenton was helped by Jordan Chard, who finished with one goal. Chard scored 16:02 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Adam Clements picked up the assist. Mitch Emerson also scored for Trenton. Newmarket was helped by Todd Winder, who racked up one goal. Winder scored 6:42 into the first period to make the score 1-1. James Mense-Dietrich assisted on the tally. Newmarket also got a goal from Marty Lawlor as well. More assists for Newmarket came via Ryan Young, who had one. Daniel Urbani rejected 22 shots on goal for the Golden Hawks. Trenton incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Connor Ryckman made 32 saves for the Hurricanes on 34 shots. Newmarket incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
