Oakville hangs on, beats Mississauga 3-1

Eric Holland scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Oakville Blades held off the challenges of the Mississauga Chargers in a tough 3-1 win.

Holland provided Oakville with the game-winning tally when he scored 7:27 into the first period. Evan Brown picked up the assist.

The Blades were sparked by Brown, who finished with one goal and one assist. Brown scored 3:10 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Oakville. Holland assisted on the tally.

Oakville managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Blades ended up below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. Oakville forced Mississauga goalie Tyler Richardson to work between the pipes, taking 57 shots.

Oakville also got points from Holland, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Oakville also got a goal from Christian Rajic as well. In addition, Oakville received assists from Patrick Kudla, Bryce Misley, Brayden Sampson, and Josh Kosack, who each chipped in one.

The Chargers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Mississauga wound up below its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Chargers were led by Stefano Alonzi, who scored the team's only goal. Alonzi scored 17:09 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Oakville. Mackenzie OMahony provided the assist.

The Blades' Michael Botiz stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Oakville registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Richardson rejected 54 shots on goal for Mississauga. The Chargers registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
