Whitby holds on for 5-3 win against StouffvilleStouffville Arena Thu, Oct 29, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Whitby Fury survived a determined comeback attempt by the Stouffville Spirit on the way to a 5-3 win. Whitby made the score 5-2 on a goal by Scott Kirton at 2:46 in the third period, and Stouffville got as close as 5-3 when Christopher Brill-Morgan scored 19:49 into the third period. Jeffrey Gauld had a great game for the Fury, netting two goals. Gauld's tallies came at 2:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Whitby and 1:55 into the third to make the score 4-2 Whitby. Whitby's goal total was higher than its season average. The Fury have scored at the pace of 2.6 goals per game during the current campaign. Whitby also got points from Jonathan OHara, who also had one goal and one assist. Kevin Dimagno also scored for Whitby. In addition, Whitby received assists from Nik Coric, who had two and Steven Elliott, Jacob Durham, and Ryan Taylor, who contributed one each. The Spirit kept Whitby's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Mannella made 34 saves on 37 shots. Stouffville additionally got points from Sam Hu, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Stouffville also got a goal from Spencer Roberts as well. More assists for Stouffville came via Cameron Lintner, Nathan Hudgin, Ryan DaSilva, and Connor Evans, who each chipped in one. The Fury incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Aaron Taylor rejected 22 shots on goal for Stouffville. The Spirit incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
