Newmarket blows out Lindsay, 5-1

The Lindsay Muskies had trouble finding ways to stop the Newmarket Hurricanes, which beat Muskies, 5-1.

James Mense-Dietrich was all over the ice for Newmarket, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Mense-Dietrich scored the first of his two goals at 8:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Newmarket. Todd Winder provided the assist. Mense-Dietrich's next tally made the score 4-0 Newmarket with 11:12 left in the second period. Allister OHagan assisted on the tally.

The Hurricanes kept Lindsay's goalie busy throughout the game, and Boyd Diclemente made 27 saves on 32 shots. Newmarket bested its season scoring average. The Hurricanes average 2.3 goals per game.

Newmarket also got points from Max Routledge, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Newmarket included Nick Kalpousos and Marty Lawlor, who each put in one. In addition, Newmarket received assists from Alex Ierullo, Christian Dedonato, Ryan Young, and Jonathan Colley, who each chipped in one.

The Muskies could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

Lindsay also got a goal from Hunter Hotrum as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lindsay were Dayton Kent, who had one.

Connor Ryckman rejected 24 shots on goal for Newmarket. The Hurricanes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Lindsay registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
