Mississauga erases deficit to stun Buffalo, 4-3

The Mississauga Chargers climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, 4-3.

Mississauga never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Chargers was down 3-1 after a goal by Buffalo's Zach Evancho at 13:38 in the second period. Mississauga tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Brandon Yeamans at 9:40 in the third period. The Chargers scored the game winner at 18:30 in the third period on a goal by Yeamans.

Mississauga was paced by Kevin Bray, who grabbed one goal.

The Chargers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Mississauga additionally got points from Daniel DeSousa, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Scott Docherty also scored for Mississauga. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Mike Choma, Mackenzie OMahony, Kyler Matthews, and Stefano Alonzi, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Sabres' offense rang up 36 shots on Mississauga's net. Buffalo's penalty kill unit could not stop the Chargers' power play, which converted on two of three opportunities.

The Jr. Sabres were helped by David Baskerville, who racked up one goal. Baskerville scored 2:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Buffalo. Brenden Dunning picked up the assist. Buffalo also got points from Evancho, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Buffalo also got a goal from Nicholas Bondra as well. More assists for Buffalo came via Tim Nicksic and Matthew Buchbinder, who contributed one each.

Tyler Richardson recorded 33 saves for Mississauga. The Chargers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Buffalo's Brian Kowalski stopped 17 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Jr. Sabres incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
