Keenan lifts Whitby over St. Michaels, 5-2Iroquois - Rink#1 Sun, Oct 25, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Whitby Fury relied on the scoring touch of Luke Keenan, who netted two goals, to beat the St. Michaels Buzzers, 5-2. Keenan's tallies came short handed at 3:10 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Whitby and 17:54 into the third to make the score 5-2 Whitby.St. Michaels' power play was ineffective against Whitby's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Fury bested their season scoring average. Whitby averages 2.4 goals per game. Whitby also got points from Kevin Dimagno, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jeffrey Gauld, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Whitby also got a goal from Nik Coric as well. In addition, Whitby received assists from Zach Viminitz, Steven Elliott, Jacob Durham, Jonathan OHara, Brock Welsh, Scott Kirton, and Ryan Heeps, who each chipped in one. The Buzzers did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling a minimal one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time. St. Michaels was helped by Cameron Searles, who grabbed one goal. Searles scored on the power play 4:31 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Whitby. The Buzzers had gotten the advantage when the Fury's Durham was sent off for slashing. Noah Jordan also scored for St. Michaels. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Thomas Beretta and A.J. Dorazio, who contributed one each. Daniel Mannella recorded 26 saves for Whitby. The Fury incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. St. Michaels' Jacob McGrath stopped 25 shots out of the 30 that he faced.
