Milton squeaks by Mississauga, 4-2

The game between the Milton Icehawks and the Mississauga Chargers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Milton emerged with a 4-2 win.

The Icehawks gained the winning advantage on a goal by Joseph Teofilo 15:06 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Anthony Baxter had a great game for Milton, netting two goals. Baxter scored on the power play at 11:23 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while on the power play 17:52 into the second to make the score 4-2 Milton.

The Icehawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mississauga to score on any of its four power plays. The Chargers were unable to stop Milton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Icehawks eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. The defensemen of Milton were also effective in Mississauga's zone, and came away with two goals.

Milton additionally got points from Sean Perichak, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Teofilo, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Milton came via Troy Taylor and Chris Cobham, who each chipped in two.

The Chargers were helped by Stefano Alonzi, who racked up one goal. Alonzi scored 8:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mississauga. Brady Grenon provided the assist. Mississauga also got a goal from Mike Choma as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mississauga were Scott Docherty, Michael Dischiavi, and Shane Beaulieu, who contributed one each.

Marcus Semiao made 28 saves for the Icehawks on 30 shots. Milton incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Mississauga's Andrew Cipollone stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Chargers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
