Aurora downs Toronto Jr. Canadiens in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Aurora Tigers pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens on a clutch goal by James Thomson.

Aurora was paced by Thomson, who grabbed one goal. Thomson scored 3:19 into overtime to make the score 4-3 Aurora. Ryan Shaw picked up the assist.

The Tigers stifled Toronto Jr. Canadiens' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Aurora kept the Junior Canadiens' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brendan Bonello made 33 saves on 37 shots. The Tigers got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Aurora also had goals scored by Daniel Mantenuto, Matthew Bernard, and Austin Gerhart, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Evan Kearns, Drake Board, Jordan DaSilva, Darren Iwai, and Liam Neuman, who each chipped in one.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Aurora to score on any of its four power plays. The Junior Canadiens forced the Tigers goalie Alex Brooks-Potts to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens was helped by Eric Eremita, who had one goal. Eremita scored 9:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Nico Gonzalez provided the assist. Toronto Jr. Canadiens also got points from Gonzalez, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Sal Filice also scored for Toronto Jr. Canadiens. In addition, Toronto Jr. Canadiens received assists from Andrew Pucci, Lee Lapid, Justin Maiolino, Dante Cannatella, and David Zeppieri, who contributed one each.

Alex Brooks-Potts made 35 saves for Aurora on 38 shots. The Tigers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Junior Canadiens incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
