GAME RECAP

Boomhower's big game bests Lindsay in 5-1 Wellington win

Lindsay Recreation Centre    Fri, Oct 23, 2015

The Wellington Dukes' Shaw Boomhower had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 5-1 win over the Lindsay Muskies.

Boomhower beat Graham Dynes with a shot 19:59 into the second period short handed to make the score 2-1 Wellington. Wellington found itself down a man on Brodie Maracle's unsportsmanlike conduct. Colin Doyle picked up the assist. Boomhower dished an assist on Austin Labelle's goal that made the score 1-1 at 14:17 into the first period. He then added assists on Ben Sokay's goal at 1:18 into the third and on Labelle's goal at 3:06 into the third.

Lindsay was stymied by the Dukes' netminder Olivier Lafreniere, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. The solid play of Lafreniere will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.88.

Wellington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Muskies to score on any of their three power plays. The Dukes kept Lindsay's goalie busy throughout the game, and Dynes made 29 saves on 34 shots. Wellington did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying only one minor for 12 minutes in penalty time.

Wellington also got a goal from Luc Brown as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Matthew Cavanaugh and Jacob Hetherington, who contributed one each.

The Muskies were led by James Allen, who scored the team's only goal. Allen scored 8:42 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Lindsay. Braeden Kublick assisted on the tally.

The Dukes registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Lindsay incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
