Aurora rolls over Newmarket, 7-1

The Aurora Tigers had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Newmarket Hurricanes.

Austin Gerhart quarterbacked Aurora's offense to perfection and bagged four assists in the Tigers' win over Newmarket.

Aurora's penalty kill excelled, as the Tigers gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Aurora's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Tigers average 3.8 goals per contest. Aurora could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Aurora also got points from Drake Board, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Aurora included Daniel Mantenuto, Keegan Matthew, Alex Formenton, Darren Iwai, Liam Ham, and Liam Neuman, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Ryan Shaw, who had two and Evan Kearns, Jordan DaSilva, and Nolan Dunn, who contributed one each.

The Hurricanes struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Newmarket was led by Marco Bozzo, who scored the team's only goal. Bozzo scored on the power play 8:33 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Aurora. The Hurricanes had gotten the advantage when the Tigers' Dunn was sent off for slashing. Roberto Orlando provided the assist.

Alex Brooks-Potts rejected 24 shots on goal for Aurora. Dalton Ewing made 20 saves for Newmarket on 27 shots.
