Mississauga rips Whitby, 6-2

The Mississauga Chargers were firing on all cylinders against the Whitby Fury, and when the final buzzer sounded Chargers emerged with a 6-2 win.

Aidan Parker was all over the ice for Mississauga, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Parker scored the first of his two goals at 7:29 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Mississauga. Stefano Alonzi provided the assist. Parker's next tally made the score 4-1 Mississauga with 9:32 left in the second period. Brandon Yeamans picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:28 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The Chargers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Mississauga had been averaging 23.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Chargers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Mississauga averages 2.8 goals per game.

Mississauga additionally got points from Daniel Pereira, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Alonzi, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Steve Mariani, who also had one goal and two assists. Daniel DeSousa also scored for Mississauga. In addition, Mississauga received assists from Scott Docherty, who had one and Francesco Luca, who had two.

Whitby kept the Chargers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Cipollone made 36 saves on 38 shots.

The Fury were led by Ryan Taylor, who tallied one goal. Taylor scored on the power play 3:47 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A cross checking penalty on Kyler Matthews had put Whitby on the power play. Nik Coric provided the assist. Whitby also got a goal from Kevin Dimagno as well. More assists for Whitby came via Luke Keenan, Jonathan OHara, and Scott Kirton, who contributed one each.

Mississauga registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For the Chargers, Docherty and DeSousa were ejected from the contest. Jordon White rejected 19 shots on goal for the Fury. Whitby totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. The Fury ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Rylee McKinnon was ejected from the game.
