Pickering falls to Oakville in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

Ryan Garvey gave the Oakville Blades a 6-5 (OT) victory over the Pickering Panthers when he scored 1:45 into the extra period.

Pickering could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. Oakville made the score 5-3 on a power play goal by Josh Kosack at 4:14 in the third period. The Panthers pulled to within 5-4 on a short handed goal by Tiger McDonald at 6:04 in the third period.

With two goals and four assists between them, Garvey and Kosack teamed up to power the Blades' offense. Garvey racked up one goal and two assists and Kosack also notched one goal and two assists.

Oakville's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 13 minors and one major for 61 minutes in penalty time. The Blades had been averaging 17.0 minutes in penalties per game. Oakville was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to two goals off of nine man advantages.

Oakville additionally got points from Tyler Rollo, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jackson Bales, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Kosack, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Eric Holland, who also had one goal and one assist. Bryce Misley also scored for Oakville. In addition, Oakville received assists from Christian Rajic, who had two and Patrick Kudla, Ryan Foss, and Drew Worrad, who contributed one each.

Pickering was often in penalty trouble, totaling 16 minors and one major for 57 minutes in penalty time. The Panthers surpassed its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game. Pickering forced the Blades goalie Brendan McGlynn to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Pickering also got points from John Hudgin, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Chris Sekelyk, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Pickering also got a goal from Davis Kuksis as well. More assists for Pickering came via Mackenzie Heber, Doug Carter, Kennedy Duguid, Mitchell Waldron, and Andrew Hughes, who each chipped in one.

Oakville's McGlynn stopped 26 shots out of the 31 that he faced. For the Blades, Kudla and Peyton Reeves were ejected from the contest. Paul Giusti rejected 22 shots on goal for the Panthers. Pickering registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. Team's Duguid and Giusti were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
