Trenton rolls over Stouffville, 7-1Stouffville Arena Sat, Oct 17, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Trenton Golden Hawks had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Stouffville Spirit. Quinn Lenihan was all over the ice for Trenton, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Lenihan scored the first of his two goals at 17:02 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Trenton. Owen Ramsay provided the assist. Lenihan's next tally made the score 4-0 Trenton with 14:10 left in the second period. A cross checking penalty on Jackson Savery had put the Golden Hawks on the power play. Spencer Herbst picked up the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:45 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts. Trenton forced Spirit's goaltenders to work without much rest, racking up 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. Aaron Taylor made 16 stops and Matthew Camilleri made 13. The Golden Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Stouffville to score on any of its five power plays. Trenton surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Golden Hawks have scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of Trenton were also effective in the Spirit's zone, and came away with two goals. Trenton additionally got points from Liam Morgan, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Kevin Lavoie, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Danny Hanlon, who also registered one goal and one assist, Lucas Brown, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Hunter Fargey, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Trenton came via Brandon Marinelli and Blayne Oliver, who contributed one each. Stouffville's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Spirit finished with 27 penalty minutes. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Justin Mahabir and Alex Williamson, who each chipped in one. Troy Paquette made 24 saves for the Golden Hawks on 25 shots. Trenton totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For the Golden Hawks, Nick Boddy was ejected from the game. For Stouffville, Spencer Roberts and Kyle Thomas were ejected from the contest.
