The Stouffville Spirit climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Newmarket Hurricanes, 3-2. Stouffville never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Spirit trailed 2-0 after a goal by Newmarket's Marco Bozzo at 6:29 in the second period. Stouffville tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by James Mense-Dietrich at 1:44 in the third period. The Spirit netted the game winner at 12:42 in the third period on a goal by Mense-Dietrich. The Hurricanes' power play was ineffective against Stouffville's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 7:44 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Spirit were often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. Stouffville surpassed its season average of 27.0 penalty minutes per game.
